Why I chose to sign with an ethical record label.

I’ve been writing, recording, and releasing original music since 2003.

Over the years, I’ve been super lucky to work with off-the-scale talented, beautiful humans who became friends. I’ve also learned, slowly and sometimes painfully, that not everyone in this industry shares the same values.

In 2024, I won Best Music Video for Cold Eyes. That moment opened a new creative door into filmmaking and reminded me how important it is to feel supported, encouraged, and respected when making creative work.

Around the same time, I was ready to step away from music altogether. I had made peace with that. I was offered a place at University, in Bristol to study an MA (Hons) in Media Production and Filmmaking, which I'm currently doing, and my soul is loving it.

[Sidenote] My classmates, as lovely as they are, are mostly younger than my car. But then, as is so often the way when we let go of perceived outcomes, something unexpected can happen, and it did. I was offered a record deal.

Not just any deal, but with Little Wing Records, an ethical label run by good souls who I already knew, and I’m proud to share that I'm their first signing.

What Does “Ethical” Actually Mean?

An ethical record label puts people before profit and artists before algorithms.

For me, that means:

Fair treatment and respect for everyone involved

Transparent contracts that protect artists’ rights

Creative freedom and space to grow

Care for long-term sustainability for both human needs and environmental ones.

Humanity is woven through the entire process.

Little Wing embodies all of this. It’s a place where music and people can genuinely thrive together.

Why I Stepped Away from Certain Platforms.

Platforms like Spotify can help people discover music, and they have their place.
But for me, care and kindness matter more than how far you can throw your fishing net.

I began to see that it is possible to work in ways that:

Respect everyone involved, including the artists.

Walking away wasn’t dramatic. It was considered.

Its important to me to create work that I’ll still be proud of in 20 or 30 years. This includes the people I choose to have around me while I do this as we really dont live this wonderful adventure for very long, and I've now got to an age where these, 'would like to have's, have now become 'must have's.

What This Means for You.

Every song, every video, every release is made by humans and for humans, not machines.

By supporting my work through Little Wing, you’re also supporting:

Fair treatment of artists

A community built on respect and care

Music and film made with love, intention, and a big old bucket of kindness.

Thank you for being here.
With love,
